Mark Warboys is a self-taught artist creating his Artworks with a variety of mediums such as Soft Pastels, Oil Pastels and Oil Paints.

Raised in Auckland, New Zealand he has enjoyed painting for several years and has successfully sold all his creations, doing a number of solo shows throughout Auckland.

He has found the essence of his compositions in urban street scenes with a strong Jazz, Blues and Soul Music influence.

Mark's works are very figurative based and capture a real essence of Rhythm and Soul and the everyday. Stylistically his works have a strong emotional content, often with a solo figure in an urban environment or a dim lit bar where the figure is the lone singer or musician.

Mark has developed a wonderful understanding of his preferred medium using smooth applications of oil glazes that radiate contrasts of sharp colour and dramatic tone - often with a figure set in hues of diffused light

His control of shading, tones and lighting combined with warm and vibrant colours gives the paintings a moving flow. His works are grandeur in scale which intensifies the moods and melody of each carefully compiled composition.

His work is subtle yet vibrant offering the viewer a refreshing and inspiring experience.
